Renewable energies are clean energy sources, increasingly competitive with traditional energy sources. They are vital for combating climate change and limiting its most devastating effects, avoiding the emission of greenhouse gases and with a much lower environmental impact than other forms of energy.
Green energy has become one of the main concerns of today’s society. Increasingly, the world is turning to renewable energies and the textile sector is not left out of this sustainable shift.
More sustainable manufacturing process
The production of textiles and garments is an energy-intensive activity, so the adoption of renewable energy sources can have a significant impact on the environment.
Environmental protection has always been one of the main objectives to which we dedicate all our efforts to develop more efficient and sustainable products and solutions. Since its beginnings, Vilarrasa has integrated the entire vertical process within its production, buying directly the raw material scraps to make yarn, thus also achieving a significant reduction of CO2 emissions.
Green energy through a photovoltaic system
In this context, at Vilarrasa we have taken the initiative to adopt measures to reduce our environmental impact and increase our commitment to green energy.
Our commitment to modernisation, energy saving and the constant improvement of our processes has played a fundamental role in the growth of Vilarrasa over the years. For this reason, we have started up a photovoltaic self-consumption installation with an available roof area of approximately 6,100 m2, totalling 709 kWp.
Thanks to this installation, Vilarrasa will stop emitting 329 tonnes of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to 125 hectares of planted trees, an extension of approximately 175 football fields. This measure is an example of the company’s commitment to green energy, our concern for the environment and our determination to continue improving our production activity towards more sustainable practices.
